U.S. President Joe Biden said he has congratulated Donald Trump for winning the 2024 election and that there will be a “peaceful transfer of power” with the incoming president-elect's administration. Biden delivered the remarks during an address to the nation from the Rose Garden Thursday morning. Biden's vice president, Kamala Harris, lost the 2024 election to Trump. "She gave her whole heart and effort, and she and her entire team should be proud of the campaign they ran," Biden said. The president also stated that he hopes "we can lay to rest the question about the integrity of the American electoral system. It is honest, it is fair, and it is transparent, and it can be trusted. Win or lose." The vice president trailed in every battleground state and failed to match Biden’s 2020 support among key demographics.
