Harris addresses US after losing election to Trump: “We must accept the results” | FULL
Hours after Donald Trump was, once again, elected president of the United States, Vice-President Kamala Harris took the podium in Washington, D.C., expressing positivity after being defeated by the Republican leader in the race for the White House on Wednesday. “I know folks are feeling and experiencing a range of emotions right now. I get it. But we must accept the results of this election,” Harris said in her opening remarks. “While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign. The fight for freedom, opportunity, fairness, and the dignity of all people,” she added. The Democratic VP also revealed that she spoke with Trump earlier in the day, congratulating him on his victory. “I told him that we will help him and his team with their transition and that we will engage in a peaceful transfer of power,” Harris said. Trump became president-elect in the early hours of Wednesday, after clearing the 270 electoral votes needed to clinch the presidency.
